A “solvent-free” product is also known as as a “distillate.” The terms refer to the process of distilling to refine a hemp/cannabis concentrate by separating the desired cannabis molecules from any possible contaminants.
The distillation process first includes extracting plant material with a “solvent,” such as Ethanol, CO2, butane or even water in some processes. Next, the extracted material is vaporized through a heating-evaporation process. The resulting vapor travels through a cooling system whereby the contents separate and consolidate into separate containers.
This process can be repeated multiple times and at various temperatures to ensure that the end product contains no solvents, pesticides or residues of any kind while keeping the terpenes and cannabinoids intact in the end product.
